...support for Windows 10?
...support for Windows 10?
Hi everyone,
ArgusTV is running rock solid for me on my Win7 machine since...well, since ever.
But with Windows 10 underway and everyone receiving free updates...is there any testing planned or undergoing already?
What do you experts think, expect or recommend?
cheers,
Hominidae

Hominidae, dear old friend.
YOU are asking experts?
WHO, if not YOU, could answer this question? TIEFSTAPLER.
I guess, we will have to find it out.. by trying - I had the same thoughts getting the invitation to the WINX update recently...

Re: ...support for Windows 10?
A proposal for a discussion:
1. We open a sticky thread "Win 10 compatibility" - and invite users to follow it.
2. First post is a clear warning, that users shouldn't simply update if a productive Argus machine runs on it
3. I'm running two servers - one MePo Server and an ATV Recorder - I will updating them both and report in the thread so that we get transparency spread.
Then we discuss and decide in the forum to let it go or to recommend not to do it for the time being.
Suggestion?

I've been using Argus and MediaPortal in Windows 10 Preview for several months with no problems

Perfect, hexagon. Actually: I thought so.
Would you, based on this experience, give a "Go!" for the release?
I'd like to collect experienced users to make first tests and consider - and then issue a general statement - with potential but transparent risks for our users.
How to proceed - see my single step above. Are you with us & who else?

But ArgusTV is still on V2.2 and on the only Win installation in da house...running headless....installed once (when? years ago?...feels like it) and then "forgotten".
I am no windoze expert and I am just worried that, at some point I'll have to upgrade and then all hell breaks loose
Re: ...support for Windows 10?
...actually what you proposed looks like a good way to me. I'd definitely appreciate the efforts.Christoph21x wrote: How to proceed - see my single step above. Are you with us & who else?

I'm using MediaPortal TV-Server and Argus Scheduler so I can't comment on Argus Recorder.Christoph21x wrote: Would you, based on this experience, give a "Go!" for the release?

Re: ...support for Windows 10?
I suppose we need to do a check list to confirm all pre requisites work;
Dbase
MS SQL Which version
MySQl ditto
.Net
Versions 4.0 4.5 etc what is required
Win 10 share rules.. are they different?
Web browser is new ver compatable.
Tuner drivers...
I'm sure all of these items will work but as this thread high lights any and all feedback should be logged and fed back to Wiki.
Personally as my system is 24x7 live and working well, I dont want to upgrade, but come july with release version of Win10 we all need to be prepared!!
