I re-read the whole thread, and this must be solvable. If NOT, we have to know...
Let's start at the beginning, if you're willing.
First question: prior to upgrading to Win10, did you have
- a virus scanner installed other than Windows Defender?
- a firewall installed other than Windows Firewall?

Re: Combining machines for recording
I'm not sure what Windows 10 has to do with it. The main Argus TV machine runs WHS 2011 & the remote server runs Windows 2012 Server Essentials
Both machines are only using Windows Defender / Windows Firewall.
Both machines are listed in the Recorders section and both the ping and shares tests are successful.
Both machines have a dual HD tuner (WHS - TBS6280, 2012 - TBS6281)
As a test, I've just added a bunch of recordings the busiest day in my schedule, and as you can see, Argus TV immediately causes a conflict saying there are not enough tuners, however it's only using the tuners on the main WHS machine, and appears indifferent that there is a 2nd recorder machine.
For reference, the channels in question are on the following multiplexes
5USA - com4
Pick - com5
BBC 2, BBC 3 - bbca
ITV Meridian, Channel 5, E4 - d3+4
So there are 4 multiplexes being used and 4 tuners available, so there should be no conflict. From previous experience, Nashville will also only start at exactly 10:00 and will ignore the 3 minute pre-record. Likewise Chicago PD will ignore the 10 minute post-record.
