can anybody pls help with adding satellite data into backend

Post by Dibden » Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:04 am

thx for reading,

ive just installed dvb-s card to test argustv, with an install that will eventually be driven by xbmc as frontend.

at this stage, all seems well. Argus backend has detected default settings, however while working my way down the list, i come to the "satellietes" option, and i do not see info for the paytv satellite i wish to use?

the info should be found on this page;

http://www.lyngsat.com/Optus-C1.html

once again, thanks in advance,
Dibden

Hi Dibden!

Welcome to Argus - to spend this time is a must ;)

Good (best for me) choice - Argus plus XBMC.

If you can't find your sat provider... did you check our Wiki site how to "produce" a sat entry for this? General information: http://www.argus-tv.com/wiki/index.php? ... Parameters

The structure for satellites.xml entries is part of this article under http://www.argus-tv.com/wiki/index.php? ... ml_entries

If you can't get along with this, please feel free to drop another message in here!

Kind regards - Christoph

thx, but unfortunately, ive checked the sat.xml and also on the 2 x sat websites for the xml data, however the data doesnt seem to be listed atm?

is there software that can scan the transponders for the channel info for me, so that i may upload the data to the forums for others to use?

Thanks once again,
Dam0

Hi again!

There's in fact a software from philg - see thread viewtopic.php?f=76&t=4036 for more information.
It updates your satellites.xml from the site http://en.kingofsat.net

If you can't find your satellite there, we have to create the entry manually

again, ty

but it seems this app requires dot net 4.5, and since this dvb-s card only has drivers for winxp, i am fresh outa luck:-(

i have ordered another card which is win7/8 compatable, but i feel it may be held up with international postal service over the xmas/new year, and was hoping that this cheap card sourced locally could "proof of concept" the ideas i have with the mrs, before i outlay larger dollars.

nm, i will just be patient.

Dibden

Hey Dibden :)

I hate it personally when I have to be patient on things that I like... :)
So c'mon, let's try.
I'm no sat user at all but it's a kind of "proof of concept" about my Wiki article describing the satellites' xml structure. If I'm not able to "produce" your entries, my own "how-to" is unusable :)

You want to have all frequencies of http://www.lyngsat.com/Optus-C1.html ?
Or only some? Both, C1 and D3?

actually, i ran the app on a win8 machine, however the data for optus is not found from the scanned website.

in order to make by hand, im real sorry, but i will defo need both c1 and d3.

Ok... here's the structure for ONE transponder (the "first one in the list of http://www.lyngsat.com/Optus-C1-D3.html - Foxtel)

Maybe you may add this to your satellites.xml and simply try it out beore proceeding?

Code: Select all

<sat name="Optus C1/D3 (156.0E)" flags="0" position="1560">
	<transponder frequency="11720000" symbol_rate="29455000" polarization="0" fec_inner="7" system="1" modulation="2" />
</sat>
