my live TV (argus+mediaportal, AMD APU) gets some choppiness every about 30 seconds, how could I find out what is the problem?

Re: choppy jerky live TV
This is usually signal related or a codec problem, but there are a few other things it could be too. If recordings are fine, it's probably not signal.
- Disable RTSP in the MediaPortal plugin by unchecking automatic selection and making sure RTSP is unchecked for live TV and recordings. Does that fix it?
- Does VLC play it fine on the problem machine?
- If not. Does VLC play it fine on a different machine?
- What codecs do you have configured for TV? (LAV filters work very well for me)
- Is MediaPortal actually using the codecs you selected? (while playing live TV press shift+1 to find out)

You can fix it, or you can fix it until it's broken. I usually choose the latter.
