2.3 Release?
2.3 Release?
According to viewtopic.php?f=47&t=4692 v2.3 was going to be released on Nov 29th but I haven't seen any news or updates since then. Was there a showstopper that prevented the release from happening?
Re: 2.3 Release?
If you look closely, you'll see that it was 2013 and the release was 2.2.
Re: 2.3 Release?
Yeah that post is for the previous release last year
That being said, the question is still relevant - 2.3 has been in RC for months now.

Re: 2.3 Release?
I'm also really keen to know this..
I am currently running MediaPortal 1.6 on 3 machines along with Argus TV Server 2.2.
It is going to take me a day or so to upgrade all three machines and get all the customisation / configuration back.
So, I have been putting it off until 2.3 final, to save me having to do it all twice.
However, I am now losing some functionality within MediaPortal as some plug-ins are no longer fully supported in version 1.6, they are nearly on version 1.10 now.
Not sure whether to carry on waiting or go for it now. It would be really annoying to do it all and then Argus 2.3 final gets released a few days later!

Re: 2.3 Release?
This is just a personal reflection.
Let me first say that I'm in no way involved in the development of Argus, and I have no personal connection with anyone that is.
I am however involved in software development, and my personal experience is that people close to, but not actually doing development do have a tendency to ask "are you ready yet?", "can you fix my issues first?", "I need this ASAP!".
One thing they do have in common is that they have no authority to decide, set priorities, or set your salary. Just like the kids in the back seat that starts nagging "Are we there yet?" five minutes after you start driving won't get you there any faster, these questions just makes you sigh and wonder if they don't have anything better to do.
Especially bug-fixing is somtimes timeconsuming, and you don't know how much time it will take until the bug is fixed.
And the very same people that wants things fixed the day before yesterday are the very same people that will call your work crap if they get exposed to some bug.
My very personal recommendation is to instead give some possitive feedback, maybe a donation, and not just complain. That at least would have a possitive impact, and maybe even a quicker release.

Re: 2.3 Release?
I think that is a bit harsh styrsven.
All my posts on this forum have been repsectful, appreciative and positive about Argus TV. I am always singing it's praises on other forums too.
In the past there has been a roadmap for version release dates, so it is a perfectly okay question to ask if there is a release date yet known.
There is no criticism in this thread that I can see?
Personally for me, it would be handy to know if the next release was imminent, or at least 6 months away, or if the answer is no idea, then fair enough and I shall have to make an uninformed decision on when to upgrade.

Re: 2.3 Release?
In my experience, don't wait. I was waiting for 2.3 final 6 months ago. The final release is always "weeks away". Maybe, you might be "unlucky" with a release just after you install, but that's life.

Hope you didn't follow my advice! Just noticed dot-i released 2.3 official a few hours after my post!
