Installing Argus 2.3 on windows server 2012 r2

Hi,

im trying to install Argus 2.3 on windows server 2012 r2. but I'm getting stucked with Visual C++ 2013 runtime. The Installer loops on this library, no matter which version of the runtime i install. I have tried the automatic install plus reboot etc. Same behaviour on manual install 32 and 64 bit version directly from microsoft. Can you give me a hint which version i need to install or on which registry key the installer looks for the runtime?

I've just installed Argus 2.3 on Windows 2012 R2 Essentials. No issues. The installer ran, prompted and installed the 2013 runtime then carried on as normal. I haven't done anything else as this is just a test rig I built the other day, and all I've done is grabbed all the Windows Updates and set up a couple of user accounts and shared folders.

Don't you need to install the BDA support first?

I needed to do that to install 2.2.2 on 2012R2.

FWIW Argus installed for me without having to do anything special. I am only using it as a testbed for something I'm planning to do to my live server at the weekend though and as such there's no TV card at all in my test rig, but Argus didn't complain about that either. It does whinge if I try to connect and configure the recorder console after the install's complete, but I attribute that to not having a TV card. The scheduler launches without error.

I'll find out at the weekend if I need the Media Foundation bit, but if I'm reading that correctly from quickly skimming it's only required if you're using R2 as a HTPC. Mine will only be used to record, but thanks for the link in advance (in case it's needed)

Update on my previous post. Argus TV does install and run fine on 2012 Server R2, although I have come across a problem.

I have a dual DVB-T2 tuner (TBS 6280) which I was running in the server, but Argus will only record on one of the tuners at any time. If I schedule two recordings that require both tuners, I get a "Card TBS 6280 DVBT/T2 Tuner B returned Card error : ProgramNotFound" error. To prove it's not the tuner itself that's faulty, I've unmapped the channels from tuner A and Argus TV then records to Tuner B. I've also now moved the 6280 into a Windows 8 machine and both tuners function correctly.

I've now purchased a TBS 6281 which exhibits exactly the same problem.

Interestingly, I reinstalled Windows 2012 last weekend and both tuners ran fine for a couple of days before going wrong again, so I'm now also wondering if it's a driver problem of some sort or Argus not liking something.
