Freesat/DVB-S2 Tuner Recommendations

Post by BogBeast » Mon Sep 25, 2017 5:21 pm

Hi all.

I have recently moved into a house that has appalling Freeview reception (big hill between us and mast, much shadow..)

All my neighbors have freesat.

Can any Uk user make a recommendation for a good DVB-S2 that works well with ArgusTV?

Would prefer a dual tuner, USB or PCIe

I have been using a BlackGold DVB-T2 tuner for years and it has worked well for me.. I have been looking at their BGT3600, but it seems to get 'mixed' reviews.. Anyone here successfully using the BGT3600?

Thanks!

never used a black Gold card, but I can recommend a TBS card too, I've had a TBS 6981 twin tuner dvb s2 half height PCIe card for over 5 years now and it's worked well for me picking up Freesat. not too sure if they still make that particular model though

TBS cards seem quite picky on hardware. I've got both at 6280 & 6281 and both have buggy drivers that have caused multiple BSoDs over the years I've had them and I've had to resort to scheduling weekly reboots in an effort to minimise the crashes. On the other hand, a friend of mine has a 6280 and has no problems at all.

Much as I think they're decent for what they do, their support staff have never managed to resolve the issues I've seen with these devices on various motherboard/OS combinations and seem to have given up trying, even after I sent them multiple debug reports.
