No DVB-T2 ?

Post by Loobo » Mon Nov 07, 2016 9:45 pm

Eh... I've been trying to tune in some channels few days now and I just realized that it seems like Argus TV doesn't support DVB-T2 yet...

I have a cheap chinese Astrometa USB tuner and with the supplied TVR software all channels available to me can be found but with Argus TV no DVB-T2 channels are to be found.

Checked out terrestrial.xml but the options available in there doesn't seem to cover DVB-T2.

Can someone confirm this?

Thanks!

ArgusTV does support DVB-T2

Have you installed the correct drivers?

http://www.astrometa.com.tw/FAQ.html
8. Which driver should be installed?

To use TVR or DVBC TVR, both drivers could run normally.

To use 3rd party software for DVB-T/T2, please install AMDVBT2 BDA Driver.

To use 3rd party software for DVB-C, please install AMDVBT2 BDA Driver for DVBC.

Yes, of course I have installed those BDA-drivers.

Perhaps it's just not completly implemented...?

Please take a look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T2#The_standard.

It seems to me that all those options that is different in DVB-T2 isn't even possible to enter in the terrestrial.xml, for example 256QAM, a code rate of 3/5, a guard interval of 19/256 and a transmission mode of 32k

As I said in the first post, the supplied software, "TVR" is able to find all channels on MUX 6 and 7, which is DVB-T2 MUX'es here in Sweden.
To be sure it's not a driver issue I installed the demo-version of DVBViewer. With DVBViewer I had no problem finding all channels on MUX 6 and 7.

I also tested the TVE3 tv-server from MediaPortal2. Unfortunately that has the same problem as ArgusTV. It can find all channels on MUX 1 - 5 but it can't even find MUX 6 or 7 and of course no channels on those MUX'es.

Most of the channel on those two MUX'es are HD-versions of channels on other MUX'es, both scambled and FTA.

The most annoying thing though is that all MUX'es but MUX 1 is about to be "converted" from DVB-T to DVB-T2 early next year. That would be the end of using either ArgusTV or TVE3 here in Sweden if you would like to receive more than those FTA channels available on MUX 1.

As neither ArgusTV nor TVE3 seems to supports the flavor of DVB-T2 used here in Sweden, do anyone have any suggestion for some other server software that supports the flavor of DVB-T2 here in Sweden?

If anyone is interested in the DVB-T2 requirements in the Nordic region (and Ireland i think) you can read about it at http://www.nordig.org, for example in this paper (that also covers other DVB specifications): http://nordig.org/wp-content/uploads/20 ... _2.5.1.pdf
